A new sustainable homeware brand selling bedding bundles and pillowcase sets on Shopify.
Overview
Kuroa wanted their site design to feel a step away from other bedding brands, correlating more with the world of sustainable fashion. We explored colour palettes, landing on one inspired by mid-century design. Inspired by shapes from this era and the Kuroa ‘a’ we added a rounded top right corner on photos in static and interacting on hover, and overlapped blocks of colour with the photography. With lots of detail to share about the brand and products, we divided the pages into ‘How’ and ‘Why’ in the navigation, to allow consumers to discover more about Kuroa.
Product Page
The product page boasts a sticky right-hand side, complemented by a captivating gallery on the left. This gallery allows users to click on images and explore close-up views. Since the products are manufactured in short runs to avoid waste, the implementation of an out-of-stock function was crucial. Upon encountering an unavailable item, users will be presented with a convenient ‘Notify me when back in stock’ option. This choice triggers an automated prompt, ensuring that customers are promptly notified when the item becomes available for purchase.
Cart Upsells
Sticking to their sustainability credentials, Kuroa wanted to consciously choose products to upsell. Additionally, with additional pillowcases often purchased alongside bedding, the Kuroa cart clearly relays the 20% saving on pillowcases. It also matches color variants to ones already present within the cart. The result is the most relevant upsell for the user.
Iconography
Tribe created an array of hand drawn icons to help to communicate the messages across the site. Drawn with a textured line to create a more artisan feel, they bring interest to copy, and to bring to life the brand’s values and principles.
