Shopify rebuild with bold new identity, shoppable recipe hub, and subscription optimisation — uniting brand storytelling with performance and driving stronger retention and sales growth.

Overview

Bold Bean Co. is reshaping food culture by putting beans at the centre of the table. With a bold new identity and a mission to bring beans into everyday meals, they needed a digital partner to evolve their ecommerce experience and drive sustainable growth. Since January 2025, Tribe have partnered with Bold Bean on a growth retainer – applying their rebrand across site, optimising the subscription model, and rebuilding product journeys to lift conversion, retention, and customer loyalty.

Brand evolution & site foundations

We translated Bold Bean’s refreshed brand identity into a digital experience. Their refreshed brand identity introduced more characterful design full of wonky shapes, hand drawn elements, backgrounds bursting with texture and a bolder palette.

 

The challenge when implementing this was how these features behave in a responsive manner to all screen sizes, and how to ensure Bold Bean have a future-proofed website that’s easy to update.

 

We refined the elements to achieve this, and created a design system to create consistency across the site. You’ll see the wonky shapes used everywhere from buttons to product cards and recipe cards, patterned textures bringing attention to key elements, and characterful edges to even little details like allergens on recipes. The result is a big refresh of the site, making it bolder, more colourful and more impactful.

As part of the retainer we iterated on the website, including a new homepage hero with review integration, upgraded navigation for recipes and bundles, and multiple CRO-driven design iterations across shop and content pages. These changes created a more premium and coherent journey for customers.

Product & cart rebuilds

We tackled key conversion blockers on Product Pages (PDPs) and Collection Pages (PCPs). Updates included clearer product USPs, reviews lifted above the fold, recipe and video integration, and streamlined filters. In cart, we introduced upsell mechanics and a free-shipping threshold bar. These improvements delivered consistent double-digit uplifts in add-to-cart, conversion, and revenue performance.

Recipes & Beanspo hub

Recipes are a major acquisition channel. We restructured the Beanspo archive for SEO best practice, adding schema markup, filters, and shoppable recipe cards that let users add products to cart directly from content. This tied Bold Bean’s storytelling into the shopping journey. The impact was clear: recipe sessions grew +14%, add-to-cart events increased by +65%, and purchase rate from blog traffic almost doubled (+87%). Certain hero recipes drove triple-digit uplifts in engagement and conversions.

Loyalty programme (Skio integration)

We designed a first-of-its-kind Skio loyalty experience in the UK, built to extend subscriber lifecycles and reward superfans. Subscribers can now accrue points, unlock gifts, and access exclusive recipes and content. With tiered rewards and personalised content, the “Bold Bean Club” creates a deeper sense of community around the brand.

Retention & subscription optimisation

We optimised the subscription journey by streamlining frequency options, improving account UX, and fixing issues in the Pick & Mix system. Clearer prompts and upsell logic boosted subscription adoption and contributed to triple-digit growth in subscription sales during the retainer.
