Sauce Shop
More sauce,
more ways to buy it.
Shopify redesign with bold new brand identity, custom bundle builder, subscription programme, and shoppable recipes — creating a seamless experience and driving stronger sales performance across the first year post-launch.
Overview
Sauce Shop came to us with a bold new look: redesigned packaging with colour-block labels, a vibrant photography direction, and a brand identity bursting with flavour. What they needed was a digital home to match — a site that could showcase personality, deliver a seamless shopping experience, and replace the patchwork of apps that had been holding them back.
We rebuilt Sauce Shop’s online store from the ground up, creating a unified, fully on-brand experience. Across the first year post-launch (May 2025 – May 2026), conversion rate rose +16% year-on-year, orders climbed +19%, and total sales grew +31% compared to the same period in 2024.
A brand full of colour
The new packaging and photography gave us the perfect toolkit to work with. We heroed blocks of colour and striking food imagery across the site, creating a consistent and unmistakably Sauce Shop feel.
To bring extra personality, we added playful micro-interactions – flavour profiles loading with distinctive animations, hover effects that highlight colour, and subtle transitions that add energy without slowing the journey. These touches helped push conversion rate to 4.3%, up +16% year-on-year, proving that personality can also drive performance.
Bundles & subscriptions
Previously, Sauce Shop’s site relied heavily on third-party apps – from bundle builders to promo widgets – which made the experience inconsistent and limited how much of the brand could shine through.
We rebuilt these features natively into Shopify, creating a smoother, fully branded journey. The standout is the Build a Bundle tool: a custom flow that lets customers mix and match sauces, unlocking rewards like Free Delivery or Save 20% as they add more. By routing major calls-to-action across the site into the bundle builder, it became the heart of the shopping experience.
The whole thing works because of how the inventory was architected. Every product across the site – individual bottles, curated gift sets, and dynamic build-a-bundle orders – runs on a single shared SKU. No stock conflicts, no duplicate products, no overselling when a sauce appears in three different sets simultaneously.
Subscriptions run through the same infrastructure. Sauce Shop had no subscription programme before launch. In the first year, 302 active subscribers were built from zero, generating £54k in subscription revenue with a 0.49% cancellation rate — one of the lowest in the category.
The numbers tell the story clearly. Customers who build their own bundle spend £50.51 net on average — 82% above the site-wide average of £28.20. Even the curated gift sets, rebuilt with better UX on the same shared inventory, drive a £37.76 AOV, 36% above standard. Bundle orders account for 1 in 6 purchases and drive a disproportionate share of revenue. Combined with a stronger conversion rate, this delivered +29% net sales growth and a +10% lift in average order value year-on-year.
Making recipes work harder
Recipes are central to Sauce Shop’s content strategy, driving new visitors through search and showing the versatility of their products. To preserve SEO value, we retained the Recipe Kit app but completely redesigned the templates.
The new layouts are more vibrant, intuitive, and aligned with the brand’s look – and crucially, now shoppable. Each recipe page links directly into the Bundle Builder, making it easy for customers to add sauces to their basket while discovering new dishes.
The results
The rebuild transformed Sauce Shop’s e-commerce performance across the first full year post-launch:
- → +16% conversion rate (3.7% → 4.3%)
- → +19% YOY orders
- → +31% YOY total sales
- → +29% YOY net sales
- → +10% YOY average order value, rising to £28.20
- → 302 active subscribers built from zero
- → 0.49% subscription cancellation rate
The new site is bold, flexible, and built for growth. From the inventory architecture that makes bundling possible to a subscription programme with one of the lowest cancellation rates in the category, every decision was made to serve customers and scale the business. Sauce Shop now has the infrastructure to match their ambition.
